First figure of 2009 to be photographed, I was fortunate enough to get this as a Christmas present from my partner. Suiguintou is the main antagonist of the first season of Rozen Maiden, a story about hand crafted dolls which come to life in the “Alice game” to do battle with each other and obtain the right to become the most perfect girl “Alice” and meet “Father” (creator of the Rozen Maiden dolls). Suiguintou is by far the darkest Rozen Maiden doll who’s sole motivation of not being “Junk” fuels her will to win the “Alice Game”.
Suiguintou’s comes with a relatively bland display box, but once out you can see a great deal of intricate details which make the Rozen Maiden Dolls so unique. This figure requires some assembly and has small parts in the form of ribbons (one on either side of the headband and neck tie), a feather to hold in her right hand and finally the infamous black wings which plug into her back.
What I like most about this figure is the choice of pose, the playful/sinister look of Suiguintou reminds me a great deal of her appearances in Rozen Maiden (season one) and this figure does well to portray the character. As a stand Suiguintou has a white cross pinned into a black circular base which is again quite bland, perhaps it would have been nice if it had the Series title engraved on it. The cross is very nice but on my figure I have noticed that it starts to lean down once the figure is fully seated.
This figure was released some time ago (2003?) and like with many popular figures is subject to bootlegs, so buyers should be wary of cheap knock offs. It is a very nice figure however and would be perfect in any figure collection.
