The year list of orders just got a little larger and it’s all Queen’s Blade’s fault…Rebellion. Summer last year I picked up both Queen’s Gate Alice and Anne Lotte, thinking they were part of the standard Queen’s Blade series. Not an issue really as I love both the figures but at the time it was a case of chose one or the other so I went with the regular Queen’s Blade Megahouse series as my focal of collecting…Until today…

This is pretty much the repercussions of searching for music Valentines music videos, it was by mere chance that I stumbled on Higurashi or “When they cry”. The video I clicked on left its mark, a character laughing maniacally while another character plunged herself neck first onto a kitchen knife…

I opted not to show any kill/deaths in the video in case of spoilers so readers will have to be content with an eerie (yet well done intro) song for the series :3

Higurashi is plugged as a murder mystery, originating from a popular game that has spawned not only an anime but also live action movie, I remain gripped by the possibilities that this series has to offer and will make a change (I hope) from the usual movie diet of action no brainer.

Detective Kun Kun did a excellent job of tracking down my post this week! Last night I came home from work to find 5 packages waiting for me of various hobby material. The key Anime related items that arrived were Rosario Vampire Capu 1 & 2 box set, this was a “test” purchase with a new DVD company called playtech Asia (banner to the right). They seem to be a very cost efficient company, with the two complete dvd sets costing 20 Euros including shipping. They do offer free DHL shipping with larger orders too, which is very reassuring, next month is my 4 week holiday but once I return I will do a large order to fill out my back catalogue of Anime.

With all the figures I keep pre-ordering it’s rare for me to write about anything non-figure related, I occasionally rant about the odd Anime here and there but generally it’s all about the pvc figure goodness.  Today is a little different (not by much!). Inspired by Leonia’s post on the same subject, I went out and tracked down my own copy of Shunya yamashita’s Wildflowers: a collection of illustrations released June 2008.

This book is getting pretty hard to find for a decent price, so I was very happy at getting hold of this copy for what I consider to be a good price. The book is tagged as being artistic with a twist of erotic synonymous with Yamashita’s style of seductive female art. (more…)

Figure Pre-Order: Hyakka Ryoran - Senhime

I have been raving about this figure since I saw it on Tsuki Boards, Alter’s 4th figure from the Hyakka Ryoran range is a perfect complement to the Yagyu Jubei and Hattori Hanzo. Senhime is sculpted and painted with a naginata and detailed kimono hanging off her shoulders.

She has a very stern looking face (which regular readers know I like ^^) and could be compared in visual style to Kanu Unchou. I have made a point this year of collecting the full range of Hyakka Ryoran figures, but I am already losing that battle by missing out on the Yuki Sanada figure (released before I knew about Hyakka Ryoran), Senhime more than makes up for this.

"A continuing trend of looking good while kicking the crap out of someone"

I have taken a risk with this figure, I have place an early pre-order with a company I have not used before called AmiAmi, they are situated in Japan and offer pre-order discounts (18% in the case of Senhime) . I have not been hit by a shipping cost yet so the true test of how cost efficient this service is, is still to come.

Menace is the most recent addition to my Queen’s Blade set, like Chua Churam she is a random purchase to reduce the gaps in my collection. After a little playing around on the camera, I was able to get a light mood that I liked for the final pictures and I decided to add a little lens flare via Gimp image editor to create the look of a red dawn.  The back ground is bronze paper which was something very new for me and I am happy with the shiny effect, as some photos look like landscape shadows.
